What are Leg Veins?
Leg veins are broken veins also known as Thread Veins, Spider Veins or Dermal Flares.

What treatment works on Leg Veins?
Leg Vein RemovalMicrosclerotherapy is the best treatment available for broken thread veins on legs. These veins or capillaries are entirely superficial but can be unsightly and embarrassing.

The removal of these veins does not affect your deep venous system and the sclerotherapy solution is harmless to the rest of the body.

The skill of the technician will determine the degree of success.

How does the procedure work?
The tip of a bevelled needle containing a tiny drop of the solution is introduced into the leg vein. The solution enters the vein causing it to blanche and tingle for a second or two.

This then becomes temporarily reddened as the lining is irritated. Afterwards the sides of the thread vein will either collapse, or swell and stick together, sealing off the vein preventing the passage of more blood.

This closing down process can continue for several weeks or even months after the final treatment. The width of the broken vein will determine if it is necessary to repeat treatment. Most clients are delighted to see the improvement after just one treatment.

PLEASE NOTE: Thread veins may appear in different areas if you are vulnerable to this condition. These are treated in a similar fashion.

How long is a treatment?
Treatment time is approximately 30 minutes.

How much does Microsclerotherapy cost?
Treatment costs start from £179 per session. Some patients require more than one treatment depending on the extent of the condition. This will be discussed in more detail at your free consultation.

Are there any after effects with Microsclerotherapy?
Minute scabbing or slight discolouration at the injection sight, which is transient in duration. Legs may feel tender for the next few days, but nothing terrible.

What after care should be done?
No Saunas or Steam Baths until 6 weeks after the final treatment.

Plenty of exercise, walking is best every day. (You can do this immediately after treatment if you wish). No swimming for 3 days after treatment.

Will the treated areas be ok if exposed to sun?
Exposure to sun or sunbeds is not encouraged. Areas treated must be covered up on sunbeds for entire treatment time and for approximately 6 months afterwards. (Damp flannels or cotton wool are ideal).

In the sun a total block must be applied to areas treated during therapy and then for approximately 6 months afterwards. No Lotions or Potions for 3 days. Do not wax, depilate with cream, shave or sugar areas treated until completely healed.
